National Veterans Service Committee Activities

February 2012

by Nancy De Vito

I hope the holidays were good for everyone.  Looking forward to the new year.  The Veterans Committee received a few thank you emails and I would like to share them.

CMSgt. Antoinette Kolesniko from Joint base McGuire has been providing a breakfast of appreciation to our military families for the past 23 years.  This year she is retiring, and, sad to say, this will be her last breakfast in hopes someone will offer to do it next year.  I offered her our assistance this year in any way needed for her breakfast.  This is the email I received:

I wanted to thank you and the ELKS for all the support you provided for the breakfast.  Your folks went above and beyond at the breakfast by taking care of the guests throughout the event, attending to the tables, cooking omelets, and managing the trash receptacles as well.  And, I’ve never seen the room break down that quickly either; it was like lightning!  What a treat to have that done.  So again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything!  We could not have done it without your help!

And your generosity continues with gifts and sweatshirts that you discussed; you are too kind.

    v/r,
    CMSgt. Antoinette Kolesniko

We also helped out and bought gifts for the children of the 2-309th Combat trainers support family
Christmas Party at Joint base Dix and we received this email from CPT.USAR Commanding Ricardo D. Roach:

Mrs. Nancy DeVito once again you and your team of Elks are truly blessed citizens of our United States of America.  Your unwavering support to the Soldiers of the 2Battalian 309th Regiment has continued tremendously well beyond all expectations.  From our recent Holiday party, held on 11 December 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Claus continue to be a great topic of discussion with high remarks.  The gifts your team/Lodge most generously provided for the children of our Soldiers presented another very special touch to enlighten the spirits of the party and certainly started our season bright.  Additionally, your care and patience must be recognized for taking the time to stay and talk with Soldiers and families which does show your genuine love, (Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity).

You have once again assisted 2 309th Reapers in raising the standards within the 174th Infantry Brigade here at Fort Dix, NJ.  You, my friends, are one of the heart beat reasons we serve our proud nation in both capacity of Active and Reserve duty.  For that I am once again sincerely offering my overwhelming “Thank you very much.”
